Richard Xia, President of Shanghai Balantek Technology Co., Ltd., recently made a visit to Texas and to Animal Science Products’ production facilities. This was Mr. Xia’s first visit since becoming an ASP international distributor in January of 2010.
During his visit, Mr. Xia was given a tour by Kevin Matter, Operations Manager, of all four of ASP’s production areas, as well as its state-of-the-art laboratory used for research, development and quality assurance. Mr. Xia was shown a series of presentations highlighting the quality control processes used in each facility by Ryan Izard, Chief Science/Technology Officer, and Yuxin Shao, Chinese-Asian Interpretive Marketing Assistant.
Additionally, Mr. Xia was given the opportunity to visit one of ASP’s customers, Pilgrim’s Pride, a U.S. Poultry Production Facility. Here, he experienced an integrated broiler feed mill operation with production in excess of 10,000 tons per week. “I am amazed to see so many tons being manufactured while only requiring five individuals to operate the process. This is very exciting and I believe this to be in the near future for China’s feed production facilities,” said Xia as he surveyed the operations.
Next, Mr. Xia participated in a tour of a U.S. Broiler Farm and was able to spend the afternoon seeing many aspects of the production facility. Mr. Wendell Goad, Breeder Manager of Pilgrim’s in Nacogdoches, Texas, walked Richard through several components of the broiler production facility – including computerized climate-control drinking and ventilation systems, and husbandry practices commonly used in the U.S. market.
As Mr. Xia’s trip concluded, Mayor Roger Van Horn of Nacogdoches, Texas, awarded Richard with an official city proclamation which acknowledged him to be an official “Texan.”
