MPF_NL-Image1Culley Wilson, Integrated Business Unit Manager of Animal Science Products, was invited to present at the Midwest Poultry Federation Convention, which took place in Saint Paul, Minnesota on March 13-14, 2013. The MPF Convention was held at the Saint Paul RiverCentre and is recognized as the largest regional poultry show in the U.S. – drawing over 2,150 participants this year.

Wilson presented on “The Proper Stabilization of Vaccines for the Drinking Water and Spray Vaccination.” He focused on the challenges that exist for successful vaccination associated with both traditional milk-based mixtures, as well as distilled water solutions. His goal was to educate turkey producers on the advancements being made in both drinking water and spray delivery vaccine protection. Animal Science Products has long been a global leader in these areas and was honored to bring their knowledge and experience before this segment of the US and Canadian poultry industries. Randy Olsen, V.P. Sales and Marketing of Best Veterinary Solutions, Inc., who also presented at the convention, said of ASP’s involvement this year, “I was glad to see (ASP) presenting because I believe most vaccination failures are caused by poorly preparing the vaccine with a good vaccine stabilizer. As a result, most of the vaccine that is delivered to the bird either by water or spray vaccination is not viable. I believe that the old saying is true… vaccine administration does not equal immunization.” ASP understands this and strives to create the very best vaccine stabilizers possible. It recognizes that as poultry consumers become more sensitive to the use of antibiotics in the food supply, poultry producers must find better ways to achieve proper vaccination and immunization. Using proven vaccine protection products is the key to accomplishing both.

“It was an honor and a pleasure to speak at this year’s MPF Convention. Animal Science Products always enjoys the opportunity to share what we have learned about best vaccination practices,” says Wilson. “Getting to see and visit with so many of our distribution partners who were exhibiting this year was really great. They are the ones that are here enabling us to play a role in the food safety of the Midwest.”
